Junk food is a term used to describe any food that is looked at being unhealthy and or lacking the correct amount of nutritional value. Junk foods also contain a large amount of fat, sugars and salt thus lacking any sufficient amount of proteins, vitamins or fiber.
Sometimes the definition of junk food and what exactly is classified as being junk foods confuses people. Clearly, fast food places like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King all constitute as serving junk food. But, people often forget that foods that are being served at pizzerias are also classified as being junk food. Critics state that junk food is not harmful unless consumed at extremely large quantities.
If a child starts consuming junk foods exclusively in place of a while balanced diet their daily intake levels of proteins, vitamins, and other important nutrients would substantially decrease and and intake of milk and healthy fruit juices would likely be replaced by soft drinks.
This would potentially lead to a deficiency of calcium, milk being a rich source of calcium, resulting in weakening of bones.
